26th Death anniversary of National Professor Dr Md Ibrahim observed
‘The death anniversary of Prof. Md Ibrahim should be observed in a national level so that his life and ideology may reach to the people and inspire them to serve the poor'- the speakers said in the reminiscence session held recently (6th September, Sunday) at the BIRDEM auditorium organized by the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS) on the occasion of the 26th death anniversary of National Professor Dr M Ibrahim. They said, his (Dr Ibrahim) aim and ideal was `No diabetic patient shall die unfed, untreated and unemployed even if poor.' Prof. Ibrahim dedicated his entire life to achieve this goal.
Mrs. Meher Afroz Chumki , Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Women & Children Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh could not attend the program for an unavoidable circumstances and sent her written message on this occassion. Poet and Novelist Sayed Shamsul Huq, Ex- Secretary AM Mokammel Huq and member of NC, BADAS Mahbub-uz-Zaman also discussed about the life and works of Prof. Md Ibrahim.
The meeting was also addressed by Md Sayef Uddin, Secretary General, BADAS and Major General(Rtd.) Prof. A R Khan, Vice President, BADAS while Prof. A K Azad Khan, President, BADAS presided over the session. At another seesion, prizes and certificates were distributed among the winners of the essay competition based on “Life and Ideology of Dr. Md. Ibrahim”. The folk singer Alam Dewan and his team presented a song on Dr. Md. Ibrahim.
The death anniversary of National Professor Dr Md Ibrahim was observed through other programs like: Placing floral wreaths to the grave of Dr Md Ibrahim at Banani Graveyard, providing improved diet for the hospital patients, bring out of a special issue of `Kanti'; a periodical of BADAS, Doa Mahfil, etc .
Free diabetes screening was also organized by BADAS at different city points including Dhanmondi Rabindra Sorobor, Press Club and Shahbag. NHN and HCDP also organized free diabetic checkup camp at their different centers on this occasion.
Discussion session between selected diabetic patients and specialized physicians and a free heart camp at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital was also organized to mark the occasion.
