International Prevention Summit on Faith-Based Diabetes Prevention
National Professor A.K. Azad Khan, President of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS), met today (24 June 2026) with Professor Dr. Pravath Chandra Biswas, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), to discuss preparations for the upcoming International Prevention Summit on Faith-Based Diabetes Prevention, scheduled to be held in Dhaka on 6 August 2026. The summit is being jointly organized by DGHS, BADAS, and several national and international partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO), International Diabetes Federation (IDF), World Diabetes Foundation (WDF), OIC-COMSTECH, and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

During the meeting, they discussed the summit's objectives, including the proposed Dhaka Declaration on Faith-Based Diabetes Prevention, and emphasized the importance of strengthening community-based and faith-based approaches to diabetes prevention and non-communicable disease control.

They also reviewed ongoing collaborative activities between DGHS and BADAS and explored opportunities for future joint initiatives in diabetes prevention, research, capacity building, and health systems strengthening. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing strategic partnerships to improve the health and well-being of the people of Bangladesh.
