Bangladesh Institute of Health Science (BIHS)
Bangladesh Diabetic Somity (BADAS) has gained international reputation for its diabetes health care model termed as Ibrahim Model. The efforts of DAB have recently made a quantum jump through the initiation of a large scale project for general health care delivery (The Health Care Development Project, HCDP) supported by the Govt of Bangladesh, Dutch Govt and a Consortium of local Banks. Bangladesh Institute of Health Sciences (BIHS) is the Apex Institute of HCDP which has its associated hospital named as BIHS General Hospital. BIHS is providing quality indoor & outdoor patient care and diagnostic services at a reasonable cost.
The objective of BIHS is to create a Model Educational Institute encompassing all disciplines of biomedical and health sciences. Presently 5 major Divisions have been planned namely:
- Division of Basic Sciences,
- Division of Clinical Sciences,
- Division of Public Health,
- Division of Allied Health Sciences, and
- Division of Nursing. BIHS is run by a Governing Body formed under the rules and regulations of the University of Dhaka.
Outdoor Patients
BIHS Hospital have ample space and right environment to provide comfort for Outdoor patients and their attendees. The outpatient department of the hospital can serve 2500 (approx.) patients per day through more then 50 examination rooms. To ensure optimum healthcare services, the patients are closely monitored in their waiting times in outpatient clinics, emergency and admissions. Many procedures and tests can be done in a few hours.
Outpatient services include:
- Wellness and prevention, such as counseling and weight-loss programs.
- Skilled nurse station to make patients history file.
- Independent diagnostic testing facilities .
- Treatment, such as surgery.
- Rehabilitation like physical therapy.
Our OPD service is also a setting in nine other branches which integrated and accessible primary and specialty health care services are provided by physicians who are accountable for addressing a large majority of personal health care needs, developing a sustainable partnership with patients, and practicing in the context of family and community.

Indoor Patients
Indoor department deals with admission of patients to hospital. The patients are requested to contact IPD Reception counter for more details. For pre planned admission prior information will help the hospital to allot you rooms as per your requirement and schedule other services accordingly.
Rooms available are as follows:
- General Ward (Male/Female)
- Single Room (AC/Non-AC)
- Double Room (AC/Non-AC)
- VIP Room
One attendant is allowed per patient in the room/ward after visiting hours (10.30 - 11.30 am and 5.00 - 7.00 pm)
NURSING CARE
We provide 24-hour comprehensive, individualized nursing care for in-patients based on their assessed nursing needs. All our nurses are well-qualified and experienced with a commitment to patient care. Nursing care is collaborated with the health team in rendering Total Nursing Health Care, as one of the major modality pattern in giving nursing allocations. To provide the best quality nursing care, the nursing personnel are adequately prepared by education, experience and training.
