Department of Diet and Nutrition (BIRDEM-1 & 2)
Training: Different types of participants were attended in different kinds of training program as follows:

Academic Activities

1. Training Coordinator of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics (CND training): The CND, a 7days training program formally stared since 2017 where each student paid Tk. 7500 as registration fee. About 10 batches successfully completed the training program with20 participants in each batch. The participants are postgraduate students from Nutrition and Food technology/Engineering departments of different Private and public universities, Colleges and also employees/practitioners from other private organizations which not only earned money but also earned fame for BIRDEM. At present a total of 285 participants registered for his training program and paid 2325000BDT. We also trained two batches like CND 12 and CND 13 in this year 2021.

b. Internship training program: Students (Nutrition Department) of different Universities and Colleges need Internship training to complete her BSc .and MS degree. BIRDEM has started Clinical nutrition internship training for 15 days where the students of different private, public Colleges  and Universities of food and nutrition students collect  clinical, biochemical, anthropometrical  data and drug history of admitted patients for preparation of menu planning of 50different patients as a part of BSc (Hons) degree. Each student paid 2000 TK in academy. From 2017 to till date about 524 students registered by paying Tk. 10, 48,000. In 2019-20 fiscal about 216 students participated in this training program with paying 4, 32,000. In 2021 another new145 students has registered for internship training.

Diet and Nutrition

Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics
Epidemiology and Biostatistics department has been organized an online post graduation certificate course on ‘Research Methodology’ under BIRDEM Academy since 2021. It is four months online course and we have already completed two session. Thirty six participants have successfully completed the course and the total participants were forty two. The third session will be started on Saturday at 24th September’2022 and total 22 participants will be joining the session.

Department of Pathology
ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
1) The department is running MD residency course in Pathology under the faculty of Basic Science & Para Clinical Science of BSMMU since’2015 . The teaching staffs of the department are actively involved in teaching (theory & practical) and conducting examinations of the students. At present 18 students are studying in different phases of the MD Path. course.
2) The department is also involved in teaching the pathology part of the MD residency course of other subjects.
3) The department conducts tutorial & practical classes for other post graduate students (eg. DDV & MD nonresidency courses).

Department of Microbiology
Teaching:
The departmental staff regularly takes part in examination and teaching of post graduate and undergraduate students. The department is also involved in teaching of MD/MS (Biochemistry, Immunology) subsidiary courses and BSC nursing students.
Three students were admitted in Phase A part in March, 2020 session in MD (Microbiology) residency courses under BIRDEM academy.
 The department is also actively involved in supervision of thesis of the students of  M. Phil/ M.Sc,/ B.Sc programs in Microbiology.

Training  
The department also offers laboratory training to doctors, microbiology honours and master students, medical technologists, paramedics of the hospitals and allied institutions.

BIRDEM Academy
Honorary training for doctor
BIRDEM Academy organized the training of medical graduates as Honorary Medical Officers (HMO) in different clinical departments. In session 2020-2021 a total number of 43 (Forty-three) doctors had been recommended to join an HMO.

Laboratory Training
BIRDEM Academy conducted Laboratory training programs under Research Cell in different laboratories. Students of Medical Technology, Dental Technology, Physiotherapy, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, MBBS, M.Phil, or Ph.D. can participate in 01 week, 01 Month, or 06 Months of Laboratory Training.

Training on Nutrition
BIRDEM Academy organized one-month training for B.Sc/M.Sc students of Food & Nutrition. A total number of 44 students have taken training on Nutrition in the year 2020-2021. One Certificate Course on Nutrition (7 days) has been organized under the supervision of Dr. Quamrun Nahar, Principal Research Officer, Pharmacology & Cell Biology.

Internship Training in Nutrition
BIRDEM Academy organized 06 (six) months of internship training for M.Sc students of Food & Nutrition in the dept. of Nutrition, BIRDEM General Hospital. A total number of 15 students have taken internship training in Nutrition in the year 2020-2021.

Training in Child Development Center
BIRDEM Academy organized one-month training on Childhood development & Social relationships for B.Sc/M.Sc students. A total number of 05 students have taken training on Childhood development & Social relationships in the year 2020-2021.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)
BIRDEM Academy conducted Two IRB meetings for reviewing the research protocols of MD/MS/M.Phil. students and FCPS Trainee. A total number of 57 (Fifty-Seven) research protocols of the researchers were reviewed by reviewers and permitted for doing their research in the year 2020-2021.

Training Selection Committee (TSC)
BIRDEM Academy organized meetings of the Training Selection Committee (TSC) and recommended deputation, study leave and leave without pay for the employees of BIRDEM General Hospital. A total number of 04 (four) doctors were given deputation and 01 (one) doctor was given leave without pay in the year 2020-2021.

Academic Council
BIRDEM Academy organized the 44th meeting of the Academic Council on September 08, 2020.

Academic Designation committee
This committee recommended 01 (one) Associate professors & 01 (one) assistant professors for their academic designation in different departments of BIRDEM in the year 2020-2021.

Internship Training for MBBS Doctor
BIRDEM Academy organized Internship Training for MBBS Doctor of Ibrahim Medical College (IMC) and other Medical Colleges. 110 doctors completed their one-year compulsory Internship Training in the year 2020-2021.

BIRDEM Nursing 
Training Activates:

1. 35 Nurses attended one day Training of  Physical and Pulmonary Rehabilitation of bed ridden Patient. Venue: BIRDEM General Hospital.
2. 09 Nurses participated fire extinguishing training.

Academic Activites:

1. 06 Students came from Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering  from Daffodil International University for Internship.
2. 02 Students participated one month training for Medicine, Health Education, Pharmacology and Cell Biology.
3. 22 Senior staff Nurses joined in BIRDEM General Hospital as ADHOK .
4. 162 Senior Staff Nurses joined in BIRDEM General Hospital.
5. 15 Nurses left from BIRDEM General Hospital For Government job.
6. 07 Nurses are continuing the Post Basic Bsc in Nursing  in BIRDEM Nursing College.
7. 22 Nurses completed their Post Basic Bsc in Nursing From BIRDEM Nursing College. 
8. Two Nurses attended 10 days in one year Diploma in Critical Care Nursing Curriculum Development Program.
9. 235 Senior staff Nurses left from BIRDEM General Hospital For Government Job.
10. 112  Senior Staff Nurse joined  BIRDEM General Hospital.
11. 31 Nurses joined BIRDEM General Hospital for internship for six months.
12. 113 Students had come from Mohakhali Nursing Dhaka for field practice. Class were arranged and Educated about Diabetes Mellitus  and other endocrine diseases.
13. 15 students had come from Kumudini Nursing College, angail for field practices. Class were arranged and Educated about Diabetes Mellitus and other endocrine diseases.
14. 22 Nurses are continuing the post Basic BSc in BIRDEM Nursing College.
